Klapa New Kuta Beach, Bali

Jpeg

Outdoor lounge

Klapa New Kuta Beach is located at Pecatu area, a beach resort at the southern part of Bali Island. New Kuta Beach previously known by Dreamland Beach, was wild coast that discovered by Australian surfers who looked for great waves and simple/basic accommodation. They called it Dreamland beach because this beach had white sand, great surfing waves and stunning sunset. It was just perfect place for people who just needed quiet beach and great waves.

Since 2007, this area has been bought and managed by a property developer “Bali Pecatu Graha” (Kuta Golf Links Resort), owned by Tommy Suharto, son of the former Indonesian president who occupied the largest area in Pecatu up to 400 hectares, re-instated the projects begun before the Asian financial crisis. Previously Tommy had 600 hectares of land in the early 1990s and then sold 200 hectares to third parties and the proceeds are now used to finance the project with the new partner, a Balinese businessman, Made G. Putrawan (source: wikipedia). Since then, this area was full with commercial development; hotel resorts, apartments, restaurants/cafe with function room, golf course (New Kuta Golf) and club (Klapa New Kuta Beach/Klapa Club).

Although, now that surfers are not too interested in this beach, this place still gets the charm; the white sand, the beautiful sunset, the great waves, etc. Klapa Club is worth to be considered as a good venue for corporate/private meeting, corporate inbound/outbound, wedding, lounging/sunbathing, swimming or just come, have a drink and take some good pictures. When you hold an even in this club, or plan to play golf in this complex (at New Kuta Golf), you can stay at nearer hotels in this area, such as: The Rich Prada Bali, Lexington Klapa Resort, New Kuta Hotel and Lorin New Kuta

Batavia Cafe, Jakarta

Exterior

If you visit Jakarta, for business or holiday, this place should be on your “must visit” list. This classy restaurant was established in a two-storied 19th-century building, one of the most beautiful colonial buildings in Jakarta. This building, which was constructed in the 1830s is the second oldest building in central Jakarta after the Fatahillah Museum. The Café Batavia’s interior was refurbished in a 1930s theme. You can find vintage photographs of 1930s celebrities placed on the wall at the stairway that leads to the upper floor.

When you enter the cafe, you will see a bar, performance stage, and lounge area located on the ground floor.  The upper floor is ‘Grand Salon’, the main dining hall which is able to accommodate 150 guests, featuring colonial style dining with wooden chairs. Its large glass windows in the upper floor provide plentiful of light and broadly view to “Taman Fatahillah” and its surrounding.

Secret Garden Village, Bali

Bali is one of my favorite tourist destinations. Anytime I come to Bali, there is always a new spot to explore, either cafe, restaurant, theme park or just a cozy place to hang out with friends. Secret Garden Village is not only a cafe, a restaurant, theme park or a breathtaking landscape to unwind at. This place also promotes educational tourism. There is a beauty heritage museum in this complex where you can learn in short presentation about the history and journey of Oemah Herborist, one of Indonesian beauty product. They also offer you a short course (requires one day reservation in advance) how to make natural cosmetic products, such as a soap. These are some soaps that you can purchase at Herborist beauty factory outlet in the corner of this complex.

Other educational tour they offer is about coffee. At their open concept lay-out coffee shop, the Black Eye Coffee & Roastery, you can learn about coffee roasting & brewing process and how to prepare good coffee like a barista :). This coffee shop serves many variety of Indonesian coffee, such as Lampung, Toraja, Aceh, Java, etc.

And if coffee and beauty products are not your appetite, you can just pop in, enjoy the beautiful and relaxing complex and take some photos :).

Cloud Lounge & Living Room, Jakarta

Located at The Plaza, 49th Floor, this dazzling rooftop lounge offers you magnificent 360 degree view of Jakarta city’s skyline. If you are lucky enough, you can catch a perfect sunset from this rooftop. Make sure you come around 5PM and stay at least till 7PM, so you will have both sunset and best night view of Jakarta city when all the lights are on. And you can also experience drinking Vodka in a zero degree temperature in what they call “Vodka Room”, that is the first kind in Indonesia so far.

This place is good for casual dining as well as fine dining, private/big party, business meeting, drinks, dates, also romantic dinner :).

I was actually came here on September last year with friends, and the weather was not good at that moment, so I can’t see the sunset. But, we managed to get  some good pictures from our visit:

Bali Asli, Amlapura

Bali asli amlapura, bali restaurant, fine dining, mount agung, food, eating, ambient, bali treasure, karang asem, foodism, countryside, tour destination, bali food, bali adventure, this & that, bleebloob, agodadotcom

If you like adventures, this place might suit you well. Bali Asli is located in the foot hills of Mount Agung, Karang Asem regency. They said, Bali Asli can be reached around 2 hours from Bali airport … to me, taken almost 3 hours to reach this place. We never been around in this area and was only depending on Waze and Google map. But, we enjoyed the ride. It had to pass through countryside, up and down the hill, narrow streets, but along the way was great view, fresh air and less people :).

And when you arrived to this place …got into the restaurant, I promised you…you will be amazed. The view was stunning … the rice fields surround this restaurant, and if you are lucky enough to have clear sky, you will be able to see Mount Agung from the restaurant. All the trouble to get to this place was worthwhile and what I like most was the quietness … really calming and peaceful.

For the food, Bali Asli Restaurant offers traditional Balinese cuisine, served using traditional Balinese style kitchen, which called “Paon”. This kitchen is created from mud brick stoves, using wood-fired to cook. Actually, this kind of “Paon” is commonly used in Javanese traditional style kitchen, too. In java, we called it “Pawon”, pronounced almost the same too. This kind of cooking technique, can make your food taste better. Just like in the West, when they cook pizza in brick oven…the taste is believed better than pizza from conventional oven. At this restaurant, their food ingredients are mostly self-grown in their garden/neighbors or got them from the local market. This conditions sometimes limit them in making the food, that’s why they don’t serve many kind of food in one time. However, they serve the food in unique way. Some pictures taken from my visit below.

I am personally not quite impress with the food, although I love the Loloh/Jamu very much. But, I am in awe with the view and mostly with the peaceful atmosphere that’s dominating this place.

Gardin Bistro & Patisserie, Bali

When I was in Bali last January, I made my time to have lunch in Gardin Bistro. I went here after viewing their Instagram account several days before leaving to Bali. They post many pretty photos, not only about their food but also picture of every corner in this place, taken by the guests as well. It looks very “instagrammable” and interesting, that made me to put this place on my “must visit” list.

And the food ….. I was really impressed that then I decided to post about this place here. I was ordered what they called “72-hour slow cooked short rib”. Although its name’s not appealing (to me … lol), but this steak was really yummy, juicy inside … well even the look’s absolutely mouthwatering :).

I don’t know…maybe it was just a luck of our first visit or they really had good food, but I would consider to come again to this place. By the way, this is neither paid-promo post nor is anything like that. It’s appreciation post only. I try to remember when was the last time I did really enjoy food named a steak (and scanning some places …..), I think it was very long long time ago…at Black Angus Steakhouse Jakarta, then this one.
